You will need to purchase the upper-classman 14-week syllabus, upper-classman sample-book file, and the upper-classman sample book’s file.
Designed for and tested with upper-classman college fashion students, this sample book, and its syllabus challenge the student to complex sewing techniques used in the industry’s haute couture designing departments. Students learn pull-through, sewing out, piping, tubing, French bias-bound garment edges, and many more procedures. The course also reviews sewing skills learned in the entry-level course.
Drafting the miniature dress patterns and then sewing the miniature dress enables the students to both learn the process involved in preparing to cloth for both manufactures and for haute couture.
Learning these and the other drafting and sewing skills, combined with student research and development, enables students’ to produce the required written paper about, and the finished ensemble that resembles their chosen couture designer’s work.
The upper-classman pattern book file allows students to print all of the patterns they need to make the samples.
Drafting the miniature dress patterns enables the students to learn the process involved in preparing clothing for manufacture.
The miniature dress is cut to match, requiring careful cutting and sewing. Sewing the miniature dress with no front or back seam requires pull-through. The hem hangs on the lining, eliminating hand-hemming.
These procedures provide students with knowledge of how haute couture garments are made.
